What Is A Skin Consultation?
We recommend all clients begin with a skin analysis and consultation before their first treatment at our clinic. If you would like to combine your initial skin analysis with a treatment, we recommend a Hydrafacial, as it’s suitable for all skin types and provides deep exfoliation that prepares your skin for future treatments or new skincare regimens.
Our advanced skin scanner provides an in-depth analysis of the deeper skin layers, allowing us to identify the root causes of your concerns and establish your general skin health. The scanner reveals detailed information about various conditions including excess or insufficient oil production, bacteria presence, fine lines, hydration levels, open pores, texture irregularities, surface pigmentation (such as PIH), deep pigmentation (such as Melasma), breakouts, acne, blackheads, milia, impaired skin barrier, skin thinning, redness, visible veins, eczema, psoriasis, and more.
It’s impossible to recommend the most appropriate treatment for you over the telephone or through visual inspection alone, as root causes are often hidden beneath the surface. For example, a client with acne might assume their breakouts are due to excess oil and bacteria. However, when scanning, we might discover they have neither excess oil nor bacteria. In such cases, treatments designed for oily/bacterial acne would actually worsen dry, hormonal acne and cause unnecessary discomfort.
Your Initial Skin Analysis & Consultation Allows Us To:
- Thoroughly understand your concerns and identify their root causes
- Take baseline ‘before’ photographs to enable progress reviews every three months
- Discuss personalised treatment and skincare options based on multiple factors, including your skin tone, type, area size, medical history, and current medications
If you wish to have a specific treatment or patch test on the same day as your consultation, please book this simultaneously with your skin consultation.
What Makes Fiji Skin Clinic Different
What distinguishes us from other clinics is our use of the latest Observ 520x Skin Analyser, which captures eight different images of your skin—from the surface through to the deeper layers that aren’t visible to the naked eye. We take a total of 24 photographs (eight from each side and eight from the front of your face), which we email to you for your own personal records. These comprehensive images eliminate guesswork when determining the most effective treatments, supplements, and skincare recommendations for your unique needs.
We recommend reviewing your skin analysis every three months, allowing us to collate your photographs and demonstrate your progress throughout your treatment course. Since we see our skin daily, it can be difficult to notice subtle improvements in the early stages. Only when these images are compared to significant early improvements become apparent, especially in the deeper skin layers. Many clients are astonished when they look back at their first photograph, having forgotten their starting point. This provides reassurance and motivation, as complete results from medical skin treatments can take six months to a year to fully manifest.
How Often Should I Get A Skin Review?
At each quarterly skin review, we may adjust your skincare and treatment settings to accommodate seasonal changes, as summer skin has entirely different requirements compared to winter skin. As we age, our treatments and skincare needs naturally evolve—what benefited us in our twenties isn’t necessarily optimal in our thirties.
With regular skin reviews, you’ll maintain healthier, more radiant skin, regardless of weather conditions or age. These reviews will also save you valuable time and money. Consider how much money and how many hours you’ve spent researching your skin concerns. How many times have you purchased creams that either didn’t work or worsened your skin condition?
To complement our Skin Analyser, we exclusively use medical and surgical-grade facial lasers and equipment. This allows us to confidently deliver the most appropriate treatment for you, providing superior results that ensure every client achieves greater confidence—both with and without makeup.
