WHAT HAPPENS DURING LASER HAIR REMOVAL? 

 

 

A patch test and consultation is required before all laser hair removal. Due to the advanced safe technology treatments can however be carried out 30-45 mins after patch tests.

During the treatment ultrasound gel is applied to the skin to allow for the laser to glide over the skin. The Soprano hand piece actual has an iced tip so the treatments feel cool to start with. As the hand piece glides over the skin warmth is slowly felt as the area is treated.

Depending on skin and hair type, results are typically seen after the first treatment. After each treatment, the hair is still present as it’s the follicle that has been destroyed not the hair shaft. The hairs will then naturally fall out over the next couple of weeks as the hair is pushed out of the hair shaft. We would usually expect up to 80% clearance within 8 sessions and recommend top up treatments when required.

IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL PERMANENT

There is no technology available that offers permanent hair removal. This is because new hair is continually stimulated from external factors which effect hormones that can stimulate new hair such as stress, pregnancy, Menopause, PCOS etc. During your course we are clearing/treating all the hairs that are actively growing on that day. It roughly takes about 10-12 months to complete your course of laser hair removal so we recommend your start sooner rather than later.

SHOULD I SHAVE BEFORE MY LASER HAIR APPOINTMENT

For the initial Laser Hair Removal patch test please do NOT shave or wax the area. The practitioner will need to see the hair growth to fully assess your suitability and settings. Once your course of treatment starts the area treated should ALWAYS be cleanly shaven on the day of each appointment other wise you will rebooked as we don’t have time to shave and dry shaving is uncomfortable. whilst we can treat a natural tan unlike other lasers you must remove all fake tan in the area to be treated other wise you will be rebooked and lose your deposit.

HOW DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORK

The process of Laser Hair Removal is simple yet highly effective. The laser’s light energy is absorbed by the melanin pigment in the hair follicle, which then heats up and ultimately destroys the follicle. However, this process only affects the targeted hair and follicle, leaving the surrounding skin unharmed.

How often do I need to get Laser Hair Removal?

For the face we recommend laser hair removal every four weeks and every six weeks for the body. The period between face and body treatments are different because the hair grows in slightly different cycles. For optimum results we strongly recommend that you adhere to these timescales as much as possible. This is because we always want to treat the hair in the active stages for optimum clearance.

How permanent is Laser Hair Removal?

All Laser hair removal is permanent hair reduction, there is no permanent hair removal available on the market. This is because many factors affect new hair growth such as medications, health issues such as PCOS, stress, hormones, pregnancy, age etc. Even when complete clearance is achieved new hair over time may start to grow as new follicles will be developed in the skin. This is why we recommend top ups as and when required.

What are the risks of Laser Hair Removal?

With the Soprano Ice Platinum there are minimal risks. Clients may experience mild redness around the hair follicles. Pigmentation changes may occur in those with darker skin but these changes are usually temporary and are the reason why we do a consultation and patch test to check. There are many more risks with other lasers such as burns and blisters but this isn’t the case with the Soprano Ice Platinum as it has an iced tip and is developed for skin of colour.

We can treat the full body laser hair removal. Popular areas are hollywood laser hair removal, legs and under arms. We offer holiday packages where you receive a course discount as well as free underarms.

For a full body hair removal cost we recommend a consultation so that we can assess which areas are suitable for treatment. If hair in fine and vellus it is not recommended to hair laser hair removal in that area. A consultation also enables to see the sizes of each area which also affects the price, we wouldn’t like to over quote you.

What are the contraindications for Laser Hair Removal

If you have any underlying health condition and or are taking any medications other than the contraceptive pill please email info@fijiskinclinic.co.uk to seek advice for Laser Hair Removal before booking your appointment. 

BEFORE 

  • For facial laser hair removal Stop all forms of topical Vitamin A such as Retinol & prescription creams and Vitamin A and all acid/granular exfoliators 5 days before treatment.
  • No sun/sun bed exposure 48 hours before treatment
  • No fake tan 10 days before your treatment in the areas we are treating. Your treatment will be cancelled and you will be charged a £25 booking deposit if you arrive with fake tan on and we are unable to treat you.

 AFTER

  • No sun/sun bed exposure 2 weeks after treatment as there is a risk of hyperpigmentation after all laser treatments
  • SPF must be applied in the morning and topped up regularly through the day
  • Reintroduce Vitamin A / Retinol / & prescription creams/Vitamin A and all acid/granular exfoliators 5 days post treatment.

If you are on prescription skincare, please seek advice from your practitioner to advise how soon you are able to reapply after treatment.

I approached Fiji in September 2023 with a goal to achieve clearer, brighter, glassier skin for my September 2024 wedding. At this point my skin was relatively clear anyway, but I was aiming to generally improve how it looks and feels.After my initial skin review with Kay, and based on me breastfeeding so being unable to undergo any treatments, I was advised to go down the product route, and was prescribed a series of products. Costly, having spent a few hundred pounds, but I considered it an investment.At my 12 week review in December, I started seeing Beth for my appointments, and again reiterated my skin goals for my wedding. During this review, I’d noticed some real improvements to my skin, and I was advised to add more products to my routine to improve results.After this point, I noticed more break outs. During reviews from this point, any regressions were attributed to wedding stress, and although I hadn’t identified being particularly stressed, I was advised to practice more self care and take some time out for myself. I was prescribed a few more products and had supplements introduced to my routine too. Again, costly, but I was hopeful that the investment would pay off.By August 2024, a month out from my wedding, I expressed concerns that my skin had gotten worse since December, not better; with more breakouts than ever before. Again this was attributed to stress, but after sending pictures and again expressing my worry with my wedding nearing, in fairness to Beth, she really tried to help. She found a treatment that I’d be able to try while breastfeeding - the LED treatment - and offered these on a complimentary basis.After a few of these over the remaining weeks leading to my wedding, while my skin did benefit from an initial glow, sadly the breakouts didn’t improve.As a result, by the time my wedding came, I’d had more breakouts than ever before. Now, looking at our photos, I’m pretty devastated that I’d invested so much money to achieve such adverse results.Based on this, I cancelled any further appointments post-wedding, given that I’d achieved adverse results, and explained as such. To her credit, Beth arranged a follow up call to check in on me, and offered to look at helping me again in the future; which, given these results, I politely declined.I will say that the team at Fiji are lovely; very welcoming and friendly. It saddens me to write this review, but I do think it’s important to share.

Had such a lovely experience today at Fiji Skin Clinic! All of the staff are super friendly and welcoming and really make you feel at ease. I had an express Hydrafacial with a skin consultation and skin scanner which was fantastic. The skin scanner is so helpful and enables you to see your skin on a deeper level which will help to address concerns. Having in lived in Sutton all my life I have always known and heard about Fiji Skin Clinic. When I finally decided to have laser hair removal I rang up and booked in for a consultation. The salon has recently been refurbished and is clean & welcoming. I had my consultation with Yvette who is so lovely, made me feel totally at ease and talked me through the procedure. I was amazed at how painless it was and booked in for a package. I have now had 2 sessions and I am already so pleased with the results, Yvette is amazing and makes me feel so at ease. I would recommend Fiji to anyone, although maybe a bit more expensive than other clinics, I have compared results with friends who have gone cheaper and theirs have either been more painful or not as effective.

Visited the clinic today for a skin consultation/analysis today after seeing Fiji on Instagram.The ladies were very welcoming and Yvette was extremely helpful. She listened to my concerns and what my goals were and explains each bit in depth of the pictures they have taken. She spoke through all the relevant treatments and what would be recommended for me. Yvette also showed me the extensive skin care they have available and I had bought the full regime which I am very excited to use.I will definately been booking in for my treatments very soonThanks again!

I had my first skin consultation with Laura in March. She was very welcoming and extremely knowledgable. I have since been back for hydrafacials by Beth and Yvette. All ladies at the clinic are extremely nice and you always feel so welcomed there not to mention leaving with lovely skin! My acne and fine lines have improved tremendously and I couldn’t recommend the clinic enough! They’re always looking at new machines and products to give us the best experience and skin! 100% recommend!

A very friendly clinic.I’ve attended three times so far and can’t fault it in anyway. I had my initial consultation with Kay who was very knowledgeable, gave a good breakdown of what treatments, products and supplements were required.I’ve had Beth twice now for my treatments and she’s always so welcoming and accommodating. She always makes me feel comfortable, explains every step of the way what she’s doing. She listens to my concerns and goes at my own pace. It’s Always a pleasure to attend the clinic and I look forward to seeing my skin progress and achieving the outcome I want. Highly recommend the clinic to everyone.

I had an appointment at Fiji for a consultation, I turned up 15 mins late Which I totally understand is my fault and take full responsibility for, but when I arrived there, the practitioner(Kay) I had, bombarded me with negativity about how she doesn’t want to deal with me because “I have too many questions” are you for real is it not your responsibility to advise us on anything we don’t understand or not sure about, I found her approach very alarming, instead of saying I was late and let me go, she instead started to interrogate me by sounding cruel and malicious about how she doesn’t want to treat me and suggested me to go else where, this came across as very rude to me, at this point I was feeling very much uncomfortable as I was trying to explain myself but she was not listening I was left stunned by what had happened and I was totally speechless, I sincerely think the practitioner (kay) I was dealing with today is mentally unfit for this role, she needs to see a psychiatrist and also needs to educate herself on client code of conduct , she probably thinks she can walk all over people because she owns the place, let me tell you one thing matriarch I’m a landlord myself I own many properties so belittling and undermining people is not going to get you anywhere but self destruction I would love to show you your place by taking this further if I have to even if I have to go legal. I’m so disappointed I had to deal with Kay, Beth is definitely a better practitioner hands down practitioner!.

I've been using Fiji for 5 months now and I have to leave a disappointing but honest review.Firstly, I noticed the clinic offers a discount for posting Google reviews so please bear this in mind when reading reviews.1st appointment, I was shown detailed skin analysis and advised to use the Obaji kit, peel and moisturiser.1st follow up consultation no improvement in skin analysis and advised this was due to my product application. I was also required to purchase additional products in exchange for the consultation.2nd consultation still no improvement in skin analysis, again due to my apparent poor application even though I was out of the majority of products.I expressed concerns re products potentially not penetrating into skin which were dismissed. The lack of progress which was apparent in skin analysis was also dismissed and instead I was just encouraged to repurchase kit and additional treatments.I liked a couple of the products in particular the exfoliating day cream and night cream, but I was told you HAVE to use the whole range or results will NOT be achieved. I enquired about the cost as I had seen them available online at a significantly lower price...£309 v £371 at Fiji! At this point the 'upbeat tone' disappeared very quickly and the owner cut off my phone call.You will hear a lot about Fiji being a obaji best seller and that in my opinion is down to the sale technique and the discounted Google reviews.To summarise, any concerns I raised about my progress were dismissed in a patronising manner and I was made to feel like I was the problem, not the product. It was quickly used as a sales opportunity to upsell additonal products and services.Sometimes, products don't work for everyone. Sometimes, people dont want to overpay for the same products which are cheaper elsewhere. The instant turn in behaviour just shows she sees you as a cashpoint not a client.Edit:The call from the owner came after I left a review...not before. At this point following your behaviour you have lost my engagement.You should listen to clients concerns and not just push sales. If a client says they don't like the spf because it is very thick and heavy and greasy and leaves a horrible cast, I really don't see how switching it to a tinted one will help! And I am the ONLY person who didn't like the face wash. And I wont be charged for a sample product because Fiji are doing me some kind of favour. THIS is the sales technique I am referring to. Nonetheless, this was a review of Fiji not obaji.If clients don't like products, feed it back to obagi instead of pushing a product in the manner in which you do. There are other spf products on the market with the same protection. I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way. I, as the client am reporting my issues.And to be very clear, consultations are NOT free as you have to purchase products or services or pay a consultation fee. I purchased products at each consultation. The peel was an in store promotion on at the time of my consultation. I don't see how this is even relevant to the issues I raised apart from another sales technique to promote Fiji.The whole response seems like an opportunity to promote Fiji services. You have shared my entire confidential treatment and rx data which is not good practice for a skin clinic.If the online prices were not comparable, you should have said so or suggested you look into it. I don't want a sunhat or sample products pushed on me. Again, not relevant. It was a genuine enquiry on the cost of the kit. But instead you were very rude and cut off my phone call. This is unacceptable for a service industry.

For the past few months I have been having laser hair removal on my face with Fiji Skin Clinic and have been happy with the service I have received.Although following one of my more recent appointments I was not satisfied with the results of my laser as I had noticed regrowth in areas, where hair had previously started become finer. I had contacted Kay regarding my concerns. Kay had provided me with excellent customer service and had put me at ease. On my next appointment I was looked after by one of their best laser clinicians (Yvette) and my treatment on this occasion I was very pleased with. Yvette was thorough and ensured all areas of my face were covered to ensure I get the best results from my treatment. Alongside this as a gesture of goodwill I did not need to pay for this treatment as Fiji Skin Clinic value customer feedback and take any reviews as an opportunity for learning.The whole experience has been positive and I am incredibly impressed with the customer service I have received. I would highly recommend Fiji Skin Clinic as all the staff take their time to look after all their customers and ensure customers have the best experience. I will definitely be back for more treatments for sure!Thank you 😊

The clinic was such a lovely and professional place. I had a great experience for my first time. A lady called Beth did my initial consultation for lasering and she explained everything to me thoroughly and answered any questions I had. All the forms were sorted for me straight away and the laser experience itself only took about 10 minutes. I would recommend this place if anyone wants to get lasering done as you end up feeling rejuvenated as you leave.

Being a ‘mature’ lady, I was looking for something more than just a facial and so when I saw the advert for Morpheus8, I was intrigued and went along to the open evening to learn more about this. After a lot of research, I signed up for the treatment and have just had my last treatment of the course today. After 3 sessions, I have now started to see beneficial changes in my skin and now cannot wait until my review in January when I should really be able to see significant benefits of my investment with this relatively new treatment. ( I believe that Fiji is currently the only clinic offering Morpheus8 treatment in Birmingham). The team at the clinic are all extremely professional and knowledgeable and very friendly. I was assigned to Beth for my treatment and sincerely, she has been phenomenal - thank you. It is a bit of a leap of faith as the results with Morpheus8 are not immediate, but I am feeling confident that it was the right choice of treatment for me. I’ll give an update after my review late January!

I had a booked a hydra facial. Unfortunately due to my own personal circumstances I could not have the hydra facial, I spoke with Laura and Wallis who offered me a different type of facial both of them were really kind and welcoming. Wallis did the facial for me and she was extremely professional and warm. She explained each process before carrying it out. We also had a good chat whilst she was doing it. My skin is glowing and I feel relaxed after my visit to Fiji Skin Clinic.

I went to Fiji skin clinic for a skin consultation with Beth. Beth was extremely knowledgable and we talked in detail through all my skin concerns. The use of the photographs to show skin issues not visible on the surface was amazing and we talked through the best plan for my skin treatment and that we would have regular consultations to make sure progress was being made. I found it extremely informative and helpful and I felt reassured in my skin treatment choices. Looking forward to seeing the results!
